Raw studios was established in 2005 by Peet van Straaten. all Raw products are modular, plywood systems which fit together using a glue-less jointing and clipping system. A lot of hard work obviously go into making all the joints fit perfectly and at the end it looks great when all the pieces gel into one without a single drop of glue.

"Raw innovation showcases the innovating way we go about solving problems"

They do client specific design as well as their own product range, all of these designs can be seen on the Raw website

Peet van Straaten has been [and still is] all over, working, learning, running companies. With much experience in hand, he now shares his creativity with us here in South Africa. As with everything I post on Rooted, I love these units! Especially the Ikonik from the Raw product range. Inspired by American steel lockers, it can be stacked, hung and if you want it 'graffitied' you can have that as a custom addition. Raw is getting together with many different artists and creatives to develop different prints.

They also give back to the planet by using wood from sustainably managed forests and they make sure that whatever gets harvested gets re-planted. Beautiful and eco-friendly. Go have a look at all the great designs and systems on the website, it is really interesting and inspiring!
