If you feel like you just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of crazy city life and escape to a place where you can hear water and trees whispering while you sit around a camp fire, how about Old Mac Daddy Trailer park? [Opened 15 July] Situated in the stunning Elgin valley, this "designer trailer park" is the perfect get-away spot. With twelve trailer units, and one 'Daddy's Villa' [for bigger families] it's the perfect romantic weekend away or even holiday with the kids.
The project was started by the Daddy Long Legs Hotel group and designed by Cape Town-based artists, architects, and creatives. Each airstream trailer has a different, very unique interior which makes the Old Mac Daddy trailer park not only a perfect, peaceful escape, but also a fun, colourful experience.
Each night's stay includes a healthy breakfast at the Barn [the restaurant, bar and kids play area] Ten of the twelve trailers [imported from the USA] have chalets which can be utilised as a lounge or extra room for the kiddies. The other two trailers are single, lake-side units with a picket fenced garden. The perfect setting for a romantic weekend away.
For those who want to escape the city, but cannot escape work responsibilities, there are Wi-Fi facilities. Other facilities include a communal Tv area with DSTV, a pool and you can even arrange a babysitter. Things you can do at the trailer park include swimming, picnics, orchard hikes, etc. So do yourself a favour, pack up the wife/husband and kids or girlfriend/boyfriend and escape the real world, to experience something tranquil and fun.
I will be going there myself soon, as Rooted got invited to attend the Media open day in August. Very exiting stuff. So I will bring you some more inside scoop soon. Stay tuned! For more information and bookings go to http://www.oldmacdaddy.co.za/
